Do they work?
Do you get anxious, excited, afraid, laugh, or cry when reading fiction or
watch a movie? Things don’t have to be “real” to have a physical or
emotional reaction.
In 2002, I attended a one-day class, “Achieving Your Potential.”
On the first vision board is the graphic from the class.
Based on the research on the brain and its potential done by Herrmann
(HBDI) and others, here is a summary of the amazing ability that we have to
create our lives.
Visions + Passion = Reality
When we create a clear vision with passion/emotion, we basically put our
brains on “auto-pilot” to create the vision we imagine and desire.
His example was: You buy a new car, a Chevy Silverado, or Toyota Camry.
That decision evokes passion. So, your vision is the truck or sedan, and now
your subconscious mind will seek the exact car.
Suddenly, everywhere you go, you see Chevy Silverado or Toyota Camry.
Whereas before purchasing the new vehicle, you might have only seen one
or two.

After the class in 2005, I put up a vision board at work. I had pictures of
cowboys, and the words Believe, Fancy Free and Success. A few years later,
I published my first novel, The Perfect Country and Western Story.
In 2008, I created a new vision board containing lots of interesting random
places and the words, Time Out For Some Fun. In 2010, we were in Switzerland and took the Bernina Express. A few months after returning
home, I recognized a picture on my board that was exactly like the view I
saw while riding the train.
People can use vision boards for personal or professional growth. Typically, I
have only used the boards for fun, but I had an “Ahhhh” moment when
writing this blog and plan on creating a vision board for my WIP (work in
progress) characters.
When writing fiction, characters must have a want or desire (vision), and to
achieve their goal, they need passion; without a drive or a need, the reader
will have a hard time believing the story or scene is real. (reality).

About Christine Columbus

I am thrilled to be back writing and eagerly anticipating the release of Chance Meeting on January 8, 2025 and I’d Rather Kiss You Goodnight to be released in 2025 or early 2026. These novels culminate my passion for storytelling, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
Eighteen years ago, while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I published several short stories and a novel with The Wild Rose Press. Then, I took a brief hiatus that lasted thirteen years., traveling the United States in a 40’ 5th wheel camper with my husband. This journey, from the Midwest to the West Coast to the East Coast, has inspired my writing. Now, we’re settled in North Carolina, living the dream in a stick and brick dwelling (apartment). And I am back to doing what I love-spinning tales that captivate and inspire.
Cute cover! And sounds like a good read!
LOVE this post! I use a vision book or boards too and also teach classes on them!
Good luck and God's blessings in manifesting your dreams.

Can't wait to read the tales from your hiatus!
Cute write-up. I relate well to characters that make "a mess of everything." :-)
Thank you so much for being here today!
